Stas Bekman has his article up on O'Reilly ONLamp. It talks about some of the technology MailChannels is using to punish spammers and how it scales to deal with thousands of concurrent connections. There's a really good description of using Event::Lib (perl bindings to libevent) to build scalable servers which is worth a look if you need that sort of thing.
